Am I a Candidate for Invisalign?

Did you know over 8 million people are Invisalign® graduates? It’s no surprise why Invisalign continues to amass happy, satisfied patients: Invisalign is comfortable, discrete, and able to correct a wide variety of orthodontic issues.

If you’re wondering if you’re eligible to be an Invisalign patient, our team at Arya Dental encourages you to visit us. Saeed Mokhayeri, DDS, and Hengameh Safarcherati, DDS, are experienced using Invisalign to correct alignment problems, spacing issues, and crowding.

A thorough examination can determine if you’re an ideal candidate, but we cover some of the basic requirements for receiving Invisalign here in this blog.

Is Invisalign right for you?

Invisalign is an advanced orthodontic treatment that relies on BPA-free clear aligner trays to correct orthodontic issues like crowding and crooked teeth. Invisalign is suitable for children, teens, and adults.

Like any dental treatment, Invisalign may not be right for everyone. But you can ask yourself the following questions to learn more about the potential of what Invisalign can do for you.

Do you have crowding or spacing issues?

Invisalign can help you achieve a generally straighter smile. Whether you’re dealing with crowding, crooked teeth, or a few gaps, Invisalign can tackle these pesky issues.

The aligner trays gently use pressure to guide your teeth into the desired locations. There’s no need for wires or metal brackets.

Do you have alignment issues?

Invisalign isn’t limited to straightening crooked teeth. This innovative orthodontic treatment can also address more complex issues like misalignment. Invisalign may be right for you if you have:

  • Open bite
  • Crossbite
  • Overbite
  • Underbite

Bite issues can cause discomfort and/or difficulty when eating.

Are you dedicated to the process?

This is arguably the most important quality: the dedication to the process. Invisalign treatments can be as quick as six months, with the average treatment lasting 12-18 months. But you can start to see results with your first few trays.

These estimates are based on the proper usage of the trays. For optimal results, you should wear your aligner trays 22 hours per day.

One of the perks with Invisalign is that you can remove your trays while you eat. After eating (and then brushing your teeth), you replace your trays. The more diligent you are with your trays, the more predictable your progress can be.

Are you ready to start the process?

If you’re considering Invisalign, we can guide you on your next steps. During your evaluation, we determine if Invisalign is right for you.

If so, we start by taking images of your teeth. To make your custom aligner trays, we take highly detailed 3D images using the iTero scanner. This is part of the reason your Invisalign treatment is so predictable.

After your first set of trays are made, we monitor your progress and provide instructions regarding how to clean your trays and answer any other questions you have.

We carefully plan your treatment from your first scan to final your tray. You wear each tray for two weeks, with optional retainers at the end of treatment to keep those pearly whites right where you want them.
