What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an innovative orthodontic treatment that corrects the alignment of your teeth with a series of clear, medical-grade plastic aligners. The aligners are like clear braces that put gentle pressure on your teeth to correct their positions. Invisalign is an excellent option if you want to perfect your smile without a mouth full of metal brackets and wires.

What should I expect during Invisalign treatment?

Your treatment begins with a detailed consultation with a dentist at Arya Dental. They examine your teeth to ensure that Invisalign is the best treatment to correct your smile. Most patients wear Invisalign clear braces for between 9-18 months.  

Your dentist takes pictures and molds of your teeth and uses them to plan the migration of your teeth and to make a series of customized aligners. When your aligners are ready, you have an appointment for your dentist to check that the aligners fit your teeth correctly and to review how to use and care for them throughout your treatment.

You wear each set of aligners for two weeks. For the first two months or so, you have bi-weekly appointments at Arya Dental for your dentist to check your progress. Once they’re satisfied that your Invisalign treatment is progressing as expected, they give you three or four sets of aligners, and you’ll change them at home every two weeks. You’ll still have dental appointments every six to eight weeks for your dentist to monitor your progress.

What are the benefits of Invisalign clear braces?

Patients opt for clear braces for a variety of reasons. One of the most appealing aspects of Invisalign is that the aligners are more or less invisible while you wear them. So unless someone looks at your teeth very carefully, they won’t know that you’re wearing them.

Additionally, you can take your aligners out to eat and clean your teeth, although you should make sure to wear them for at least 22 hours every day to maximize their effectiveness. This means that you don’t have to give up any of your favorite foods, although you may find that you snack less as you need to clean your teeth before putting them back in after eating.

Also, you can brush and floss your teeth normally, instead of having to work around the metal brackets and wires of traditional metal braces.
